Knoxville, Tenneesee: Hits and misses
Tammy and I took a few days off from work, and we decided to visit Knoxville, Tennessee. We stayed in the downtown area, and within walking distance of Market Square. If you are in Knoxville, you should pay it a visit, with its' shops, restaurants, and the open air vibe. Market Square gave us our eating highs and lows on this particular trip.
First the high. Cocoa Moon is a unique Asian/Mexican Fusion establishment located in Market Square. We loved the comfortable, oversized booths equipped with soft pillows. Our waiter was friendly, and took time with us, and our appetizer and drinks arrived quickly. My Thai seafood bowl was tasty, but not too spicy. Tammy's Lo Mein was done perfectly, with chicken and pork. Everyone there was friendly, and made sure we that had a great dining experience! When you're in Knoxville, give Cocoa Moon a try.
Now, unfortunately the low, which was actually across from Cocoa Moon in Market Square.
Café 4 had some decent reviews on another website, so Tammy and I decided to give it a try on our last night. The hostess was friendly enough, but our waitress must have sized us up, and found us lacking. She never gave us a drink menu, or offered us anything from the bar. So we drank water. I can't tell you if there were any specials, because she never told us. Alright, I could live with that, I'm definitely not the hip or trendy type. I ordered The pimento burger, although it seemed to have more jalapeno than pimento. It was cooked ok. Tammy ordered Chicken and dumplings. The plate she received wasn't quite what we expected. The dumplings were actually some type of gnocchi which was probably pre made. The carrots were very undercooked and everything was over salted. The chicken thigh and leg were cooked ok, but over seasoned. Our waitress spent as little time with us as she could, grabbing our plates and rushing away to tend to more worthy customers. I will say her tip reflected her attitude.
Now don't get me wrong, we don't necessarily have to be fawned over (although it would be nice) but don't treat us like we haven't bathed for a month. Your tip will be minimal and we won't be back. There are too may better choices (like #Cocoa Moon)
So, it's back to Gallia tomorrow, but don't worry, we'll hit the road again very soon!
